FW16 DEVELOPMENT, JAPAN, 2016

The long forgotten technique of needle punch has been reintroduced for FW16. Involving a rigorous and detailed process in which two different fibres are mechanically weaved and interlocked, seamlessly fusing them together. This season the focus was on experimenting with vastly different textures and fabric weights, examining how each one reacted to the technique. The final outcome has distinct qualities, profound in both depth and textural quality.

[ROYAL NEEDLE PUNCH] FW16

Royal Needle Punch uses a charcoal wool fabric layered atop a black base, before a blue silk chiffon is bound on top. The Needle Punch technique is used to create a smooth transition between all textures, as the needle passes through each layer at varying depths to bind them seamlessly into one.
